Quiet Terms of Use

Last updated: September 2026

These Terms of Use, together with Apple's standard End User License Agreement (EULA) linked below, govern your use of Quiet ("the app"), published by Sangat Ltd.

License

Quiet is licensed to you, not sold. Your use of the app is governed by Apple's standard End User License Agreement (EULA), which you can read in full here:

https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/

Where these Terms of Use and the Apple standard EULA overlap, both apply; where they conflict, the Apple standard EULA governs your license to use the app, and these Terms of Use govern the specifics of how Quiet works.

Quiet is not a measurement instrument

This is important, so we say it plainly: Quiet is not a certified sound level meter or measurement instrument. The decibel readings Quiet shows are estimates from your iPhone's built-in microphone, useful for comparing rooms and times of day against each other (quieter vs. louder, this room vs. that room), not for producing an exact, certified, laboratory-grade measurement of sound pressure level.

Quiet's readings come from a consumer smartphone microphone, which varies device to device and is affected by phone case, orientation, wind, and other factors outside the app's control.

Subscriptions and purchases

Quiet offers optional in-app purchases:

Subscriptions renew automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel a subscription any time in your Apple ID account settings on your device. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase. All purchases are handled by Apple under Apple's own terms; Quiet has no access to your payment details.

Acceptable use

Use Quiet only for its intended purpose: mapping and understanding noise levels in spaces you have the right to scan (your own home, or a space where you have permission to scan and record ambient loudness). Do not use Quiet to surveil, harass, or invade the privacy of others.

No warranty; limitation of liability

Quiet is provided "as is." To the fullest extent permitted by law, Sangat Ltd disclaims all warranties, express or implied, and is not liable for any damages arising from your use of the app, including any decisions made based on its noise scores, verdicts, or readings.

Changes

These terms may be updated from time to time; the "Last updated" date above reflects the current version, published at the same URL.
